Simple Activities for Fast Stress Relief
Stress is often caused by outside factors that we have no control over, like having to pay for a new water heater, or having to take up the slack for an absent co-worker. But how we deal with those outside stressors can make things worse.
Many people dealing with stressful situations by trying to hold things in, keep it all together, and attempting to stay in control. This is a horrible idea- the only way to get rid of stress is to get it all out, not bottle it up.
That’s where these stress relief activites come in.
Exercise
Physical exercise is often a great way to deal with stress. Whether you choose to run or swim laps, you will soon forget about your problems! Exercises that require you to “hit things” like tennis or racquetball are aslo a great way to work out your frustration.
Whatever you do to releive stress, the key is to have fun. If you aren’t enjoying the activity, chances are you aren’t bettering your stress levels any- your mind is still going to be focused on the stressor, not the activity.
Board and Parlor Games
Multi-player board games tend to be good stress relievers since they tend to put a smile on your face and offer a reason for an occassional good laugh. It doesn’t matter what was bothering you, after a good laugh nothing seems that bad anymore… I guess that proves that there is truth to the saying “laughter is the best medicine”!
Games That Occupy Your Mind
One way to relieve your stress is to get your mind off of whatever is causing it so playing intellectually stimulating games is a great way to do that.
If you like pencil puzzles, buy several puzzle books, along with a good supply of mechanical pens, and stash them around your home or office. Jigsaw puzzles are also good stress relievers. In addition, there are plenty of good mind occupying games online that can keep you from thinking about your troubles. Choose games that are challenging enough to hold your interest, but not so challenging they would cause you to feel frustrated.
Stress relief games are a great way to ease your feelings of tension and anxiety. Whether it’s engaging in physical activity, playing games online, or solving pencil puzzles, you are bound to find a game that will help you manage your stress and get on with your day.
