Exercise to relieve stress
Exercising is a wonderful way to feel great and leave behind the stress of your day. When you exercise, your body releases pent up tension and endorphins, which give you a natural “high” feeling. Here are a few exercise suggestions that are proven to help you re-balance a stress-filled life:
Tai Chi or Yoga
Both of these forms of exercise require you to focus on your movement as a was to clear your mind. In the end each leave you feeling relaxed, centered, and rejuvenated. The great thing is that neither of these exercises require any equipment whatsoever. You don’t even need to leave the comfort of your own home to do these simple movements AND they are low impact, meaning there is little risk of you injuring yourself. Don’t be deceived by the slow movement though because each is a challenge in its own right. Regardless of the slow pace, you will certainly be getting a workout as well as your daily dose of relaxation.
For those days that you can’t exercise
Sometimes exercise just isn’t in the cards for the day so it is always good to have other relaxation techniques to help you in those situations. The easiest way to slow down, focus and relax is to breath (a technique that you will find is also the foundation of Yoga and Tai Chi). Breathe deep and slowly and simply focus on this for as long as possible. You will begin to feel lighter and happier. This technique is perfect whether you are at the office, or on the bus. It reminds you to bring your attention back to the present moment and focus on what is most important, which is your life force or your breathing.
