Critical Guidelines On Appearing Great On The Online Video

In one of Oprah Winfery’s earliest editions of her magazine, she showed the entire process of exactly how she gets ready for a cover shoot. It takes a team. She has experts in lighting, photography, wardrobe, and makeup all working hard to create what appears to be a natural, spur-of-the-moment shot. Trying to equal what takes her days and thousands of dollars in your own home is impossible! However you can certainly make an investment here and there and make certain changes so that you look a lot better when you are ready to do this. Have a critical look at this section and try your best here, as you will more than likely be a lot happier with the end result as a consequence.

1. Lighting. When it comes to lighting, more isn’t necessarily better. A ton of fluorescent lighting can actually be quite harsh and make you appear washed out, wrinkled, and (ack!) old. Natural lighting is preferable. If you can, position yourself next to a window on a sunny day, but don’t sit directly in the sun as you will just be squinting! Take a few sample snips of video at different times of day, and see what looks the most natural. When you come up with the most ideal end result, try and film only at that particular time of day.

2. Your Wardrobe. What you wear counts! No, you don’t have to go shopping for a whole new wardrobe, but you do want to give some thought to what you’re wearing. Everything from the waist up needs to be considered, so remember the neckline of your blouse and don’t wear any shirt that has inappropriate graphics or verbiage!

Match your clothing to your area of expertise; if you’re talking about a creative topic like art or design, you can get a little funky. If you’re addressing a more professional audience, say, in the financial or legal field, you’re going to inspire more confidence if you look professional, tailored, and a bit more conservative than the average punk rock drummer. A white doctor’s coat would be appropriate in the medical field. Dress for the gym if you’re a personal trainer. And to take advantage of this quickly, seriously consider taking on someone looking to become a virtual assistant, or even a team looking to become a virtual assistant business, to maximise your efforts in a very short span of time.

Understated is best; you don’t want to distract from your message. Look at what newscasters and TV personalities wear – solid colors, understated designs, and simple jewelry. There’s a reason for that. If you wear something too jazzy, it distracts attention from you to your clothing. While that may, in theory, sound like a good idea, it really doesn’t work. Try out a few different colors and styles in quick video snips to see what looks best on you – and what you feel highlights your best qualities. And an individual who wants to step into the life of a virtual assistant could easily help you with all the details, moving forward.

3. Makeup. This is not necessarily directed at the men, although you’d be surprised how many of them do put a little bit of powder and tanner on here and there before they jump on camera. (Don’t be afraid to try it.) Ladies, if you’re used to going bare-faced, you may want to consider using a little bit of product to even out your skin tone, accentuate your eyes, and help you from appearing washed out. Don’t overdo it, though! You certainly don’t want to look like Tammy Faye Bakker and if you find her looking back at you from the mirror, start all over again! Test before you start with different shades and approaches and you will find out what works best in your case.
